CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

Through the eyes of a child you can see anything; but most of all you see the yearning to learn more, and an innocence that we have all forgotten.  Our Children’s Ministry teach children how to love Jesus and to apply what they learn to everyday situations. We are dedicated to sharing the Good News of Jesus to children in a fun, loving, and in a manner appropriate to their ages.  Our goal is to help our children develop spiritually, emotionally, socially, and physically. we offer these programs to help children grow in their faith.

Sunday School

Children are offered an interesting and exciting curriculum in a nurturing classroom setting. Several different Sunday School Classes are ongoing arranged by age from  21/2 -- the senior year of high school. Current Sunday School class divisions include Pre-elementary ( 21/2 years - Kindergarten), Lower Elementary (1-3 grade), Upper Elementary (4-5 grade), and Jr/Sr High. 

Children's Moment

This "contemporary" sermon is given to children at both the 8:30 and 11:00 worship services.  The moment is related to the sermon being delivered to the adults later in the service.  In these moments the children are invited to the front of the church, with the message delivered to them by the pastor or lay person at their level both mentally and physically allowing them to fell a part of the service.  After these moments the children are dismissed to go to their parents, KFC, or the nursery.  An inspiration and lesson appreciated by all.

Childcare

Nursery care is provided for infants and toddlers during the 11:00 a.m. Worship Service.  All other services and events by request through the church office or the pastor.

Kids For Christ

Children ages 21/2 -5th grade may participate in Children’s Church during the 11:00 a.m. Worship Service. The Cokesbury curriculum "Think Big" is used during this time which includes various forms of learning incorporating a story from the Bible, scriptures, Christian videos, snack, recreation and crafts.  Additional opportunities for the children are given during advent and lent ending with a celebration for the season. 

Music

Music is available to our children during a time in Vacation Bible School and through our Kids Praise Choir

Kids Praise Choir

Kids Praise is for children 3 years - 5th grade.  They meet on Wednesday evenings beginning at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m.  The first half hour the children are introduced to Bible stories, crafts, games, and a snack; with lots of upbeat music that follows.  Twice a year Kids Praise produces a musical drama related to passages from the Bible (usually advent and spring).  This group of children lead by Kathy White and her helpers proves to be an enthusiastic, energetic, group and always demonstrate to the adults new love for the Lord. 

Vacation Bible School

This program has been a staple for MMUMC's summer  Children’s Ministry for many years.  Reaching out into our surrounding community we have always felt that VBS is extremely important not only to the children but to the life blood of the church.   The children are divided into young and older groups and go to different centers in a group or team atmosphere.  Curriculum is selected for that year on its Bible message, music, and ability to be "fun" learning for the children.  Many years the characters themselves from the Bible have participated in VBS with the children.
