Membership Opportunities and Spiritual Growth
MEMBERSHIP OPPORTUNITES

"All persons seeking to be saved from their sins and sincerely desiring to be Christian in faith and practice are proper candidates for full membership in the United Methodist Church."  This is accomplished by one of the following ways:

PROFESSION OF FAITH

Persons who have confessed their faith in Christ and made known their  desire to assume the obligations of membership, following the Sacrament of Baptism, may be enrolled as full members.

CERTIFICATE OF TRANSFER
A member in good standing in any Christian denomination who has been baptized, may be received into membership by a certificate of transfer.
Whether you seek full membership at Morris by Profession of Faith or Certificate of Transfer you will be invited to participate in a membership orientation class with the primary goals being responsible to relate you to others who are seeking membership, teaching you the basic doctrines of the church, along with communicating expectations and enabling each person to identify gifts and graces for ministry.  Our concluding goal is to facilitate each new member in implementing their ministry, and sharing a period of time with a "Spiritual Kin."

SPIRITUAL FORMATION

BIBLE STUDY

Wednesday morning and Sunday evenings are all experiences of Bible Study.  Our Wednesday morning study is a verse by verse study that is currently centering in the New Testament.  It meets at 10:30 a.m.
Sunday evening is our Disciple I, II, and III courses.  Disciple I is an introductory course that takes 34 weeks to complete.  Twelve persons journey through the Word of God as they discover God's direction for their lives.
Also on Sunday evening is the Disciple II an III courses that are the advanced studies after concluding Disciple I.  These are 32 week courses that enable each participant to share their faith and gain understanding of the Biblical directives.

WALK TO EMMAUS

A seventy-two hour spiritual "walk with Christ" designed to develop church leadership and to bring renewal to individual and church lives.  It is an ecumenical program developed by the Upper Room of the United Methodist Church.  Those who attend are given a clear understanding of how God's church is to function by experiencing that church.  Sponsorship is available through those who have previously attended these walks.
